We’re kicking off the start of our fall semester with a day at Douthat Lake! Come soak up the end of summer with us on the sandy beach at Douthat State Park. Bring your floats and splash around in the swimming area at the Beach Complex. We will meet at 11am on the beach and plan to stay for several hours; drop-in and out as you please. We may have the opportunity to participate in a ranger-led interpretation program at the beach complex, I will update on the details and time for that once I know.
When: Tuesday, August 29th at 11am
Where: Douthat State Park Beach Complex – Millboro, VA
Douthat State Park is located just north of Clifton Forge. The beach is a bit north of the park office. Cell phone reception is spotty or non-existent at the beach, so make sure you know how to get there before leaving home.
Parking: Parking is $7 per vehicle. The parking fee can be waived by providing proof of homeschool status such as current ID card from a state or national homeschool organization (HEAV, HSLDA, etc.) or a copy of the letter from the school district that acknowledges “Notice of Intent” to homeschool for that school year to the park office. Alternatively you can pay at the camp store at the beach with cash, check, or credit.
This meet-up is free and open to all interested homeschooling families. Please let us know you’re coming here so we can look out for you on the beach! Email rawlearninginfo@gmail.com with any questions.
