Roanoke History Museum Field Trip

Field Trip to the Roanoke History Museum
Tuesday, February 24 | 10:45am–12:30pm

Join us for a fascinating look at “Science & Superstitions” at the Roanoke History Museum. We’ll explore how Appalachian communities explained the unexplainable — from weather lore to mountain remedies. We’ll learn about folk healing traditions, examine old wives’ tales that signaled the arrival of spring, and look at the spring tonics once used to “thin the blood” after winter. When possible, there will be tangible items for learners to explore as we discuss these practices.

After the program concludes, families are welcome to stay and enjoy the museum exhibits at their own pace.

Tickets are $8 per child; adults and kids ages 3 and under are free. Advance registration required.

Location: Roanoke History Museum, 101 Shenandoah Ave NE Roanoke, VA 24016
