Field Trips

Raw Learning offers monthly field trips open to the wider homeschooling community. Any interested homeschoolers are welcome to register for our field trips. All of our field trips require advance registration and payment. Most have a maximum group size and often fill up. Please register promptly in order to secure your spot. We are dedicated to inclusion regardless of financial status. If you are unable to afford a field trip please reach out to us to see how we can help. 

Spring 2024 Field Trips

January 16th – Ice Skating at Lancerlot Sports Complex, Roanoke – Indoor ice skating with friends!

February 28th – Virginia Transportation Museum, Roanoke – Explore the transportation museum with friends for a group rate!

March 27th – The Eye Planetarium and the Science Museum of Western Virginia – Check out the newly opened planetarium housed in the Science Museum of Western Virginia!

April 23rd – Boxerwood Water Scientists, Lexington – Come explore Boxerwood’s waterways with Boxerwood educators!

May 21st – Tantivy Lavender Farm, Fairfield – Enjoy a day on a beautiful farm, learn about lavender, and make a craft!

Fall 2023 Field Trips

August 29th – Douthat State Park Lake Day, Clifton Forge – Come spend the day on the sandy beach swimming in the water of Douthat Lake with us! For full details and registration click here.

September 26th – Virginia Safari Park, Natural Bridge – Ride the wagon and feed the animals in the 180 acre drive-thru safari park. For full details and registration click here.

October 24th – Montebello State Fish Hatchery, Montebello – Visit the fish hatchery and check out the scenic nature trail and pollinator plots. For full details and registration click here.

November 7th – Clifton Forge School of the Arts, Clifton Forge – Enjoy some arts activities in historic Clifton Forge, and hike the new Sensory Trail along Smith Creek. Full details and link to register click here.

December 5th – Natural Bridge Caverns, Natural Bridge – Explore the caverns on a guided tour, learn about Eastern Woodland Indians, and do some gem mining! Full details and link to register click here.
